YAHWEH'S Two Covenants: Transition From Death To Life

Oh for a revealing from YAHWEH, to show us that the transition from YAHSHUA'S death in its weakness, to HIS life in YAHWEH'S power, is the image, pledge, and power of our transition out of the Old Covenant, when it has killed us, to the New, with YAHWEH working in us all in all!

"Now YAHWEH the Mighty One of peace, the One having led out of death the Great Shepherd of the sheep in the blood of the everlasting Covenant, even our Master YAHSHUA" may this One work in you every good thing to do this One’s will, working in us that which is well-pleasing before this One through YAHSHUA the MESSIYAH. Ivrim (Hebrews) 13:20-21.

The transition from the Old Covenant to the New was not slow or gradual, but by tremendous crisis, nothing less than the death of the MESSIYAH was the end of the Old Covenant. Nothing less than YAHSHUA'S resurrection, through the blood of the Everlasting Covenant, was the opening of the New Covenant. The path of preparation that led up to the crisis was long and slow, but the tearing of the veil that symbolized the end of the Old worship, was the work of a moment. By a death, once for all, the MESSIYAH'S work as fulfiller of Law and prophets, as the end of the Law, was forever finished. By raising from the dead in power, YAHSHUA who would never again die, brought me Covenant of life!

These events have an infinite significance, as revealing the character of the Covenant they are related to. The death of YAHSHUA shows the true nature of the Old Covenant, it is elsewhere called: " a working unto death" QorintYah Bet- (2 Corinthians) 3:7. It brought nothing but death, it ended in death; only by death could the life that had been lived under it be brought to an end. The New was to be a Covenant of life, it had its birth in YAHWEH'S resurrection power, that raised YAHSHUA from the dead. It's mark and blessing is that all it gives comes not only by promise, but as an experience in power, of eternal life. Death reveals the utter inefficacy and insufficiency of the Old, the new brings life near and imparts to us forever all that the New Covenant has to offer. An insight into the completeness of the transition as seen in the MESSIYAH, prepares us for understanding the reality of the change in our life. “Therefore, we were buried with YAHSHUA through immersion into death, in order that as the MESSIYAH was raised from the dead by the attributes and power of the ABBA, so we also walk in newness of life.” RomiYah (Romans) 6:4.

The complete difference between the life in the Old and the New is remarkably illustrated by a previous passage in the letter to the Ivrim 9:15-28. After having said that a death for the purchase of Law breaking had to take place before the New Covenant could not be put into effect without blood.” When Moshe had proclaimed every commandment of the Law to all the people, he took blood of calves together with water, scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled the scroll and all the people saying: “This is the blood of the Covenant that YAHWEH has commanded you to keep.” “Almost all things are cleansed with blood according to the Law, and without bloodshed there is no forgiveness of Law breaking.” Ivrim 9:15-28 & Shemoth (Exodus) 24. YAHSHUA'S death and blood which was shed for forgiveness of Law breaking, ended once and for all, all offering for Law breaking, ending the Old and giving us entrance into the New Covenant. Now having been made dead to the Old by the death and blood of the MESSIYAH, we have been discharged from the Law, having died to that under which we were held, this is the completeness of the deliverance given us by YAHSHUA the MESSIYAH: But now we are freed from the Law, having died to that which we were bound to, so that now in newness we serve the Spirit and not the oldness of the letter!

This Transition Must Take Place By A Death

The transition, if it is to be real and whole, must take place by a death. As with the MESSIYAH the Mediator of the Covenant, so with HIS people, the heirs of the Covenant. In YAHSHUA we are dead to Law breaking, in HIM we are dead in Law breaking, dead to YAHWEH and YAHWEH'S kingdom, so in the MESSIYAH YAHSHUA we died to Law breaking, and inherit a nature actually dead to Law breaking, and its rule. It is when the SetApart Spirit reveals and makes real to us this death to Law breaking and to the Law, as the condition of life in YAHWEH, that the transition from the Old to the New Covenant can fully be realized in us. The Old is and was meant to be, a “working unto death,” and until it has completely done its work in us, there is no complete discharge from its power. The person who sees that self is incurably evil and must die: who gives self over to death as they sink before YAHWEH in utter weakness, and surrenders to YAHWEH'S workings; who accepts their death with YAHSHUA on the execution stake, and in belief and trust accepts it as their only deliverance, this person alone is prepared to be led by YAHWEH'S Spirit into the full enjoyment of the New Covenant life. That person will learn to understand how completely death makes an end to all self-effort and how, as they live in YAHSHUA to YAHWEH, everything from then on will be the work of YAHWEH!

See how beautifully our text brings out this truth, that just as much as the MESSIYAH'S resurrection from death was the work of YAHWEH, so is our life equally to be wholly YAHWEH'S own work also. No more direct and wonderful was it in YAHSHUA the transition from death to life, then it is to be in us the experience of what the New Covenant life is to bring. Notice the subject of the two verses, in Ivrim13:20; we have what YAHWEH has done in raising YAHSHUA from the dead, in ver.21, what YAHWEH is to do in us, working in us what is pleasing to YAHWEH! "YAHWEH The Mighty One of peace, the One having led out of death the Great Shepherd of the sheep; even our Master YAHSHUA. May this One work in you every good thing to do this One's will, working in you that which is well pleasing before YAHWEH through YAHSHUA the MESSIYAH. We have the NAME of our Master YAHSHUA twice, in the first case it refers to what YAHWEH has done to YAHSHUA for us, raising HIM, in the second, what YAHWEH is doing through YAHSHUA in us, working YAHWEH'S pleasure in us! Because it is the same Mighty One continuing in us the work that YAHWEH began in YAHSHUA, it is in us just what it was in YAHSHUA. In YAHSHUA'S death we see HIM in utter weakness, allowing and counting upon YAHWEH to work all and give HIM life. YAHWEH worked out the wonderful transition. In us we see the same thing, it is ONLY as we give ourselves unto that death, as we entirely cease from self and its works, as we lie as in the grave waiting for YAHWEH to work all, that the Mighty One of resurrection life can work in us, all of this One’s good pleasure.

It was through the blood of the Everlasting Covenant, with its atonement for Law breaking and it destruction of Law breaking’s power, that YAHWEH effected that resurrection. It is through the same blood that we are freed from the power of Law breaking (sin) and made partakers of YAHSHUA'S resurrection life. The more we study the New Covenant, the more we will see that its one aim is to restore people out of the fall in Gan-Eden, into the life in YAHWEH, for which reason we were created. It does this first by delivering YAHWEH'S Saints from the power of Law breaking through YAHSHUA'S death and then by taking possession of the heart and life, so that YAHWEH can work all in us by YAHWEH'S Spirit! PRAISE YAHWEH! The whole argument of the letter to the Hebrews as to the Old and New Covenant is here summed up in these concluding verses. Just as YAHWEH raised YAHSHUA from the dead, YAHWEH, the author of the Everlasting Covenant, can and will now make you perfect in every good thing to do YAHWEH'S will, working in you that which is well pleasing before YAHWEH through YAHSHUA the MESSIYAH. Your doing YAHWEH'S will is the object of creation and redemption (redeeming you to a right relationship with YAHWEH). YAHWEH'S working it all in you is what YAHSHUA'S life on earth has made possible. The Old Covenant of Law and self-effort with our failure has ended in condemnation and death. The New Covenant is coming to give, in all who the Law has killed and brought to their knees in utter weakness, the Law written on the heart, the Spirit dwelling there, and YAHWEH working all, both to will and to do, through YAHSHUA the MESSIYAH.

Transition From YAHSHUA'S Death To HIS Life In  YAHWEH'S Power

Oh for a revealing from YAHWEH, to show us that the transition from YAHSHUA'S death in its weakness, to HIS life in YAHWEH'S power, is the image, pledge, and power of our transition out of the Old Covenant, when it has killed us, to the New, with YAHWEH working in us all in all!

The transition from Old to New, as effected in the MESSIYAH, was sudden. Is it this way in the believer? Not always, in us it depends upon a revealing from YAHWEH. There have been cases in which a believer, crying out in his spirit and struggling against the yoke of bondage, has in a moment had it given to him to see what a complete deliverance the New Covenant brings to the heart and inner life, through the workings of the Spirit, and through belief and trust he has entered at once into his rest. There have been other cases in which, gradual as the dawn of day, the light of YAHWEH has risen upon the heart. YAHWEH'S offer of entrance into the enjoyment of our New Covenant privileges is always urgent and immediate. Every believer is a child of the New Covenant and heir of all its promises. The death of YAHSHUA the MESSIYAH gives them full right to immediate possession. YAHWEH longs to bring us into the land of promise, let us not come short because of unbelief !!

There may be YAHWEH'S saints who can hardly believe that such a mighty change in their lives is within their reach, and yet who would like to know what they are to do if there is to be any hope of their attaining it. I have just said, the death of the MESSIYAH gives the heir immediate right to the inheritance, and yet the heir, if they be a minor, do not enter on the possession. A term of years ends the stage of minority on earth, and then they are no longer under guardians. In the spiritual life the state of guardianship ends, not with a term of years, but the moment the minor proves they are fit for being made free from the Law, by accepting the freedom there is in the MESSIYAH YAHSHUA. The transition, as with the Old Covenant, as with the MESSIYAH, as with HIS students, comes when the time is fulfilled and all things are now ready. But what is one to do who is longing to be made ready? Accept the fact that your death to Law breaking through YAHSHUA is true, and act it out. Acknowledge the sentence of death of everything in your fallen nature, take and keep the place before YAHWEH of utter unworthiness and helplessness, sink down before YAHWEH in humility, meekness, patience and give everything to YAHWEH'S will and loving kindness. Fix your heart upon the Great and Mighty YAHWEH, who in, this One's favor will work in you above all you can ask or think, and YAHWEH will make you a testimony of YAHWEH'S loving kindness. Believe that every blessing of the Covenant of unmerited favor is yours, by the death of YAHSHUA are entitled to it all, and on this believing and trusting act, knowing that all is yours.

The new heart is yours, the Law written on the heart is yours, YAHWEH'S SetApart Spirit, the seal of the New Covenant, is yours. Act on your belief and trust, and count upon YAHWEH as faithful and able and oh So Loving, to reveal in you, to make true in you, all the power and honour of YAHWEH'S Everlasting Covenant. May YAHWEH reveal to us the difference between the lives under the Old and New, the resurrection power of the New, with YAHWEH working ALL in us, the power of the transition secured to us in death with YAHSHUA, and life in HIM. And may YAHWEH teach us at once to trust the MESSIYAH YAHSHUA for a full participation in all the New Covenant secures.
