The presence of YAHWEH's Ruach with Yisrael
A transformation of the human character
The Anointed Ruach is the method of YAHWEH'S judgment on HIS people, and is thus associated by YeshaYahu with the cleansing of Yerusalem in the day of deliverance for the steadfast remnant of the Covenant people "by a Ruach of judgment and by a Ruach of burning."
YeshaYahu 4:4 "When Sovereign YAHWEH shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Yerusalem from the midst thereof by the Ruach of judgment, and by the Ruach of burning." This prophecy has influenced the New Covenant account of Yochanan the Baptist's expectation of the future baptism "with the Ruach Ha Kodesh." MattitYahu (Matthew) 3:11 "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but HE that cometh after me is mightier than I, Whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: He shall baptize you with the Ruach Ha Kodesh, and with fire:" Luka 3:16 "Yochanan answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I cometh, the latchet of Whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: He shall baptize you with the Ruach Ha Kodesh and with fire:"
Through the Ruwach's action YAHWEH'S justice and righteousness are to be established in Yisrael in the age of fulfillment. YeshaYahu 32:15-17 "Until the Ruach be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest. Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field. And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever." For Yisrael, as for the individual, the Ruach is the medium by which YAHWEH teaches man to do His will, and leads him onward in the right way of life. Tehillim (Psalm)143:10 "Teach me to do Your will; for You are my Abba: Your Ruach is good; lead me into the land of uprightness." Its moving is associated especially with the establishment of YAHWEH'S Covenant with Yisrael, and the deliverance of the exodus. YAHWEH "put in the midst of them His "Ruach Ha Kodesh" and caused His mighty arm to go at the right hand of Mosheh." YeshaYahu 63:11-12 "Then he remembered the days of old, Mosheh, and his people, saying, Where is He that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of His flock? where is He that put His Ruach Ha Kodesh within him? That led them by the right hand of Mosheh with His mighty arm, dividing the water before them, to make Himself an everlasting name?" Here the Ruach is equated with the "arm" of YAHWEH, and represents the moving presence of YAHWEH among His people, saving them from their enemies and constituting them the people of the Covenant. The Ruach is "HaQadash," as being the moving method of the operation on earth of the transcendent YAHWEH, and is virtually identified with the being of YAHWEH himself. The Ruach is personally conceived--no mere power or influence, but the object of a possible personal relationship. Yisrael's disloyalty to YAHWEH is a rebellion against His Ruach: But they rebelled and grieved His Ruach Ha Kodesh; therefore He turned to be their enemy, and Himself fought against them YeshaYahu 63:10; "But they rebelled, and vexed His Ruach Ha Kodesh: therefore He was turned to be their enemy, and He fought against them." and the moving of YAHWEH in leading Yisrael in the exodus wanderings is equated with the personality of YAHWEH Himself: "The Ruach of YAHWEH gave them rest" vs 14 "As a beast goes down into the valley, the Ruach of YAHWEH caused him to rest: so didst You lead Your people, to make Thyself a mighty name."
The inner principle of life
As the personal power of YAHWEH, effective in the moral and Spiritual transformation of His people, the Ruach will be the inner principle of the life of the restored community. The bestowal by YAHWEH of His Ruach will bring about a renewal of the Covenant relationship between YAHWEH and Yisrael, enabling the people to observe His Laws and truly to belong to Him. Yehezqel 11:19-20 "And I will give them one heart, and I will put a New Ruach within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: That they may walk in My Statutes, and keep My Ordinances, and do them: and they shall be My people, and I will be their Abba." To receive the Ruach will be the decisive turning point in Yisrael's repentance, (Yehezqel 18:31, "Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby you have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new Ruach: for why will you die, O house of Yisrael?" where the new human Ruach of the restored community is the effect of the operation of the Ruach of YAHWEH, as 36:26-27 "A new heart also will I give you, and a new Ruach will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put My Ruach within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you shall keep My judgments, and do them." makes clear). Through the Anointed Ruach there will be a transformation of the human character, so that a "heart of flesh" replaces the "heart of stone" of the days of Yisrael's transgression.
