TEHILLIM - PSALMS 137

The Yahudim Bewail Their Captivity

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 137:1

  1     ^¶  By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yes, we wept, when we remembered Zion.

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 137:2

  2    We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 137:3

  3    For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.

Their Affection For Yerusalem

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 137:4

  4    How shall we sing YAHWEH's song in a strange land?

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 137:5

  5    If I forget you, O Yerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 137:6

  6    If I do not remember you, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Yerusalem above my chief joy.

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 137:7

  7     ^¶  Remember, O YAHWEH, the children of Edom in the day of Yerusalem; who said, Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 137:8

  8    O daughter of Babylon, who are to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that rewards you as you have served us.

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 137:9

  9    Happy shall he be, that takes and dashes your little ones against the stones.
