TEHILLIM - PSALMS 81

YAHWEH Is Praised For What He Has Done For His People

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 81:1

  1     ^¶  To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of Asaph. Sing aloud to YAHWEH our strength: make a joyful noise to the ALMIGHTY of Yacob.

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 81:2

  2    Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 81:3

  3    Blow the shofar in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our feast day.

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 81:4

  4    For this was a statute for Yisrael, and a torah of YAHWEH of Yacob.

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 81:5

  5    This HE ordained in Yoseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 81:6

  6    I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from the pots.

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 81:7

  7    You called in trouble, and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder: I proved you at the waters of Meribah. Selah.

Their Obligations To Him

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 81:8

  8     ^¶  Hear, O MY people, and I will testify to you: O Yisrael, if you will hearken to ME;

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 81:9

  9    There shall no strange god be in you; neither shall you worship any strange god.

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 81:10

  10    I AM YAHWEH your ALMIGHTY, which brought you out of the land of Egypt: open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 81:11

  11    But MY people would not hearken to MY voice; and Yisrael would none of ME.

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 81:12

  12    So I gave them up to their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels.

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 81:13

  13    Oh that MY people had hearkened to ME, and Yisrael had walked in MY ways!

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 81:14

  14    I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned MY hand against their adversaries.

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 81:15

  15    The haters of YAHWEH should have submitted themselves to him: but their time should have endured forever.

TEHILLIM - PSALMS 81:16

  16    HE should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the Rock should I have satisfied you.
