Tola And Jair Judge Yisrael

SHOPHETIM - JUDGES 10:1

  1     ^¶  And after Abimelech there arose to defend Yisrael Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in mount Ephraim.

SHOPHETIM - JUDGES 10:2

  2    And he judged Yisrael twenty and three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir.

SHOPHETIM - JUDGES 10:3

  3    And after him arose Jair, a Gileadite, and judged Yisrael twenty and two years.

SHOPHETIM - JUDGES 10:4

  4    And he had thirty sons that rode on thirty ass colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Havothjair to this day, which are in the land of Gilead.

SHOPHETIM - JUDGES 10:5

  5    And Jair died, and was buried in Camon.

The Philistines And Ammonites Oppress Yisrael

SHOPHETIM - JUDGES 10:6

  6     ^¶  And the children of Yisrael did evil again in the sight of YAHWEH, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook YAHWEH, and served not him.

SHOPHETIM - JUDGES 10:7

  7    And the anger of YAHWEH was hot against Yisrael, and he sold them into the hands of the Philistines, and into the hands of the children of Ammon.

SHOPHETIM - JUDGES 10:8

  8    And that year they vexed and oppressed the children of Yisrael: eighteen years, all the children of Yisrael that were on the other side Yardan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.

SHOPHETIM - JUDGES 10:9

  9    Moreover the children of Ammon passed over Yardan to fight also against Yahudah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Yisrael was sore distressed.

Yisrael's Repentance

SHOPHETIM - JUDGES 10:10

  10     ^¶  And the children of Yisrael cried to YAHWEH, saying, We have sinned against you, both because we have forsaken YAHWEH our ABBA, and also served Baalim.

SHOPHETIM - JUDGES 10:11

  11    And YAHWEH said to the children of Yisrael, Did not [I deliver you] from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?

SHOPHETIM - JUDGES 10:12

  12    The Zidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, did oppress you; and you cried to me, and I delivered you out of their hand.

SHOPHETIM - JUDGES 10:13

  13    Yet you have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.

SHOPHETIM - JUDGES 10:14

  14    Go and cry to the gods which you have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.

SHOPHETIM - JUDGES 10:15

  15    And the children of Yisrael said to YAHWEH, We have sinned: do you to us whatsoever seems good to you; deliver us only, we pray you, this day.

SHOPHETIM - JUDGES 10:16

  16    And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served YAHWEH: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Yisrael.

SHOPHETIM - JUDGES 10:17

  17    Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gilead. And the children of Yisrael assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpeh.

SHOPHETIM - JUDGES 10:18

  18    And the people and princes of Gilead said one to another, What man [is he] that will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.
