Stones Taken Out Of Yardan

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:1

1 ?And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over Yardan, that YAHWEH spoke to Yehoshua, saying,

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:2

2 Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man,

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:3

3 And command you them, saying, Now take out of the middle of Yardan, out of the place where the kohenim' feet stood firm, twelve stones, and you shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging place, where you shall lodge this night.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:4

4 Then Yehoshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Yisrael, a man out of every tribe:

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:5

5 And Yehoshua said to them, Pass over before the ark of YAHWEH your ALMIGHTY into the midst of Yardan, and every man take up a stone upon his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Yisrael:

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:6

6 That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask in time to come, saying, What do you mean by these stones?

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:7

7 Then you shall answer them, That the waters of the river Yardan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of YAHWEH; when it passed over the Yardan, the waters of Yardan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial to the children of Yisrael forever.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:8

8 And the children of Yisrael did so as Yehoshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of the Yardan, as YAHWEH spoke to Yehoshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Yisrael, and carried them over with them to the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:9

9 And Yehoshua set up twelve stones in the midst of Yardan, in the place where the feet of the kohenim which bare the ark of the covenant stood: and they are there to this day.

The People Pass Through Yardan

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:10

10 ?For the kohenim which carried the ark stood in the midst of Yardan, until every thing was finished that YAHWEH commanded Yehoshua to speak to the people, according to all that Mosheh commanded Yehoshua: and the people hastened and passed over.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:11

11 And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over, that the ark of YAHWEH passed over, and the kohenim, in the presence of the people.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:12

12 And the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh, passed over armed before the children of Yisrael, as Mosheh spoke to them:

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:13

13 About forty thousand prepared for war passed over before YAHWEH to battle, to the plains of Jericho.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:14

14 On that day YAHWEH magnified Yehoshua in the sight of all Yisrael; and they feared him, as they feared Mosheh, all the days of his life.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:15

15 And YAHWEH spoke to Yehoshua, saying,

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:16

16 Command the kohenim that bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of Yardan.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:17

17 Yehoshua therefore commanded the kohenim, saying, Come you up out of Yardan.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:18

18 And it came to pass, when the kohenim that carried the ark of the covenant of YAHWEH were come up out of the midst of Yardan, and the soles of the kohenim' feet were lifted onto the dry land, that the waters of Yardan returned to their place, and flowed over all his banks, as they did before.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:19

19 And the people came up out of Yardan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho.

The Twelve Stones Placed In Gilgal

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:20

20 ?And those twelve stones, which they took out of Yardan, did Yehoshua pitch in Gilgal.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:21

21 And he spoke to the children of Yisrael, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones?

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:22

22 Then you shall let your children know, saying, Yisrael came over the Yardan on dry land.

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:23

23 For YAHWEH your ALMIGHTY dried up the waters of the Yardan from before you, until you were passed over, as YAHWEH your ALMIGHTY did to the Red sea, which HE dried up from before us, until we were gone over:

YEHOSHUA BEN NUN - JOSHUA 4:24

24 That all the people of the earth might know the hand of YAHWEH, that it is mighty: that you might fear YAHWEH your ALMIGHTY forever.
