The Ruach Ha Kodesh Boldness In The Word of YAHWEH
Ma'aseh Shilichim 4:31 " And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Ruach Ha Kodesh, and they spoke the word of YAHWEH with boldness." Thus the Ruach, indwelling the community of SetApart believers and inspiring their mission can be adduced as the chief testimony to the truth of the apostolic preaching: " We are witnesses to these things, and so is the Ruach Ha Kodesh whom YAHWEH has given to those who obey HIM.'' Ma'aseh Shilichim 5:32 " And we are HIS witnesses of these things; and so is also the Ruach Ha Kodesh, whom YAHWEH hath given to them that obey HIM."
Certain outstanding leaders of the mission are described as being pre-eminently filled by the Ruach Ha Kodesh. Stephen in particular, fulfils YAHWEH'S promise that the confessor of belief under persecution would be directly inspired. In his disputations with the members of the Hellenist synagogues in Yerusalem, Stephen's inspiration made him invincible: "They could not withstand the wisdom and Ruach with which he spoke;" Ma'aseh Shilichim 6:10 "And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Ruach by which he spoke." and it is especially in his witness as a martyr that his inspiration through the Ruach reaches its highest point. ''Full of the Ruach Ha Kodesh," Ma'aseh Shilichim 7:55 " But he, being full of the Ruach Ha Kodesh, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the splendor of YAHWEH, and YAHSHUA standing on the right hand of YAHWEH," he is enabled to see the heavens opened and to receive a vision of the Son of man in splendor. Sha'ul (Paul) is similarly ''filled with the Ruach Ha Kodesh ''when he withstands the efforts of Bar-Jesus to oppose the proclamation of the message of YAHSHUA. Ma'aseh Shilichim 13:9 "Then Saul, (who also is called Sha'ul,) filled with the Ruach Ha Kodesh, set his eyes on HIM."
Specially marked being Ruach-filled
Other leaders are also specially marked out as being Ruach-filled. This is true of the Seven Ma'aseh Shilichim 6:3 " Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Ruach Ha Kodesh and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business." vs 5 "And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of belief and of the Ruach Ha Kodesh, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:" of Barnabas, Ma'aseh Shilichim 11:24 "For he was a good man, and full of the Ruach Ha Kodesh and of belief: and much people was added unto YAHWEH."
Also Sh'aul after his conversion, when the touch of Ananias brings him healing for his blindness and participation in the Pentecostal gift which has been received by the earliest believers. Ma'aseh Shilichim 9:17 " And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Sha'ul, YAHWEH, even YAHSHUA, that appeared unto you in the way as you came, has sent me, that you mightiest receive your sight, and be filled with the Ruach Ha Kodesh."
The whole assembly was the Ruach- filled
There is no necessary contradiction between this special endowment and
the general impression given by the early chapters of Ma'aseh
Shilichim that the whole assembly was the
Ruach-filled community of the New
Covenant. Luka's
chief interest is in the work of the
Ruach in the furtherance of the assembly's world-wide mission. He
therefore concentrates his attention upon the specifically missionary
gifts of the
Ruach. There are some who are endowed with peculiar powers of eloquence or
the doing of mighty works, and are leaders of the mission in a special sense;
there are also those who have special gifts of prophecy. In such cases the
operation of the
Ruach
is manifested in ''tongues'' prophesying, and other unusual phenomena.
Thus the narrative of Ma'aseh Shilichim includes the episodes of the SetApart
prophet Agabus, whose inspiration closely resembles that of the prophets of the
Old Covenant, including
the exercise of prophetic symbolism; Ma'aseh Shilichim 11:28 "And
there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the
Ruach that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came
to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar. "Ma'aseh Shilichim 21:11 "And when he
was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and
said, Thus saith the
Ruach Ha
Kodesh, So shall the Jews at Yerusalem bind the man that owns this girdle,
and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles." other prophets at
Antioch; Ma'aseh Shilichim 13:1 " Now there were in the assembly that was at
Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called
Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herodes
the tetrarch, and Sha'ul."and the prophesying and speaking with tongues of
twelve disciples whom Sha'ul met at Ephesus. Ma'aseh Shilichim 19:6 "And when
Sha'ul had laid his hands upon them, the
Ruach Ha
Kodesh came on them; and they spoke with tongues, and prophesied." In
the other hand, the Ruach
is also the life principle of the community as a whole, where its manifestations
are to be seen rather in the common life, brotherhood, and joy. Its
presence is expressed in the institution of common property, so that an offense
against the unity of the whole body, motivated by dishonest self-interest
is a sin against the
Ruach Ha Kodesh. Ma'aseh
Shilichim 4:32-37 "And the multitude of them that believed were of one
heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which
he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. And with great
power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of
YAHWEH YAHSHUA: and
great Love was upon them all.
Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of
lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were
sold, And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto
every man according as he had need. And Joses, who by the apostles was
surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a
Levite, and of the country of Cyprus, Having land, sold it, and brought
the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet." Ma'aseh Shilichim 5:3 "But
Kepha said, Ananias, why hath Shatan (Satan) filled thine heart to lie to the
Ruach Ha Kodesh, and to
keep back part of the price of the land?" vs 9 "Then Kepha said unto her,
How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the
Ruach of
YAHWEH? behold, the feet of them which have buried your husband are at the
door, and shall carry you out."
When the assembly in a particular area is at peace and being consolidated, its way of life can be described as ''walking in the fear of YAHWEH and in the comfort of the Ruach Ha Kodesh. ''Ma'aseh Shilichim 9:31 "Then had the assemblies rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of YAHWEH, and in the comfort of the Ruach Ha Kodesh, were multiplied." This life in the Ruach is especially characterized by joy. Ma'aseh Shilichim 13:52 "And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Ruach Ha Kodesh."
